Undergraduate training

 As a part of the Foundation course for year I MBBS MGMCRI a hands on session on the “First Aid & CPR” was conducted at MSC, MGMCRI on 21-25th Oct, 2025. AHA Accredited Instructors of the Medical Simulation Centre conducted the classes in small groups. The students gave good feedback and expressed they need more sessions in future.

 

The National Medical Council now requires all medicine undergraduates to possess certain procedural skills. The MSC is providing these skills to the MBBS students of MGMCRI jointly with the respective departments

The Basics of History taking as an experiential session “Simulated Patient interaction” was conducted by MSC & the Deanery MGMCRI. History taking specifically for the Department of General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & gynecology, Pediatrics & Community Medicine specialties was objective of the session. Faculty of these departments were the facilitators. 20 SP’s were trained by the MSC, MGMCRI to portray patient role and provide history to the students. The SP’s are local self-help group women belonging to the nearby Bahour Community.

 

BLS and first aid training is part of the curriculum for MBBS students at SBV. Students are posted in small groups as part of their clinical rotations to MSC where our tutors teach them the CPR and first aid skills

Medical simulation centre , MGMCRI in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Physiology introduced standardised patients for AETCOM module teaching of I year MBBS. Each student interacted with a standardised patient individually.The interaction was assessed and feedback was provided. The simulated patients were local self-help group women who were trained to interact as a patient.
