Ophthalmology

Overview

The department was established along with the college in the year of 2001. Since then it has grown into one of the well-established departments of the institute. The department offers comprehensive ophthalmic care besides services of specialized clinics like glaucoma, retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology and pediatric ophthalmology. The department has a cornea transplant unit. The department also conducts regular outreach camps in rural areas of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. It is an active participant of District Blindness Control Society of both Cuddalore and Villupuram districts. The department functions with two units each headed by professor and assisted by other faculties. The department has a well-stocked library with reference books. The department is equipped with state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic equipments. The department activity includes conducting regular awareness programmes to combat glaucoma, corneal blindness and blindness in children. The department is a recognized CORNEA RETRIEVAL AND GRAFTING CENTRE and is also a permanent member of Eye Bank Association of India.
