The Department offers comprehensive medical care to all patients up to the age of 12 years and is equipped amply to cater to diverse clinical cases that arrive to the hospital from in and around Puducherry and even the remotest parts.  In near future the Department plans to offer postdoctoral courses for Pediatric Surgery and aims to impart quality training to students who take up these courses. Emphasis has been laid on strengthening the antenatal diagnostic network with co-ordination from radiology and OBGY and postnatal follow-up and possible Intervention by means of regular Antenatal Clinics.
