Rural Health Training Centre
The Rural Health Training Center (RHTC) of MGMCRI is located at Seliamedu, which comes under the Bahour commune. It aims to provide preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative service to the rural population. The center caters health care services to around 15000+ population covering the nearby rural villages. The center functions round the clock for 24 hours. There is a Lady Medical Officer in charge of the center and MBBS interns who are posted on rotation basis along with other support staff such as staff nurses, lab technicians, pharmacist, etc.. The General OPD functions on all days except Sundays. The center has a laboratory setup for carrying out the basic investigations, while for other investigations a sample is taken and sent to MGMCRI central lab. There is a pharmacy located within the center to provide free medicine. The center also provides dental care services on all working days by Dental physicians from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences.
The RHTC also runs specialty clinics in the morning hours, with consultants of various departments of MGMCRI visiting the center on specific days, Psychiatry, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology and Dermatology on Monday while consultants from Paediatrics, ENT and Ophthalmology visit on Thursday;The general, dental and the specialty OPD services are provided free of cost to the patients by the center.
Complementing to the health care service provided in the center, RHTC serves for the training of medical undergraduates, postgraduates and nursing & MSW students. All major national health programs are implemented in the center. Field activities and survey are also conducted by staffs (MSW, ANM, etc.,) at routine intervals. The center functions as a research training facility for postgraduate students, Undergraduate ICMR projects. There Rural health training center is a residential posting for interns. Lady medical officer and interns are accommodated in the hostel with food provided from the hostel kitchen.

Community-based services
The RHTC is committed to doing community-based services in the field-based area which is the training of our CRRIs and PGs. Some of the community activities are National Pulse Polio campaign, Booth activity in the RHTC, Field activity in a coverage area.
Apart from these activities RHTC also organizes various Health awareness programme like drawing competition for school students, road rally on special occasions to create awareness. Weekly health education programme, Community diagnosis and health camps/ Mobile clinics, School health service, etc., are some of the activities carried by RHTC.
