Physiotherapy

Facilities

Short wave diathermy

Short Wave Diathermy (SWD) is a treatment that uses electromagnetic energy to produce deep heating in joints and soft tissues. This form of heat can be applied to deeper structures than other forms of heat treatment.

Interferential therapy

Interferential therapy (IFT) is widely used for pain relief, muscle stimulation, increased local blood flow and reduction of oedema. This therapy has been studied extensively and its effective relief of pain in musculoskeletal conditions.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) units work by delivering small electrical impulses through electrodes that have adhesive pads to attach them to a person’s skin. The same electrical impulses also stimulate the body to produce natural pain relievers called endorphins.

Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy (UST) is the use of sound waves to treat medical problems, especially musculoskeletal problems like inflammation from injuries (sprains, tendinitis, bursitis). Ultrasound therapy ( US ) is the use of sound waves above the range of human hearing to treat injuries like muscle strains or runner’s knee.

Cervical/Lumbar Traction

Cervical spinal traction is used for the short-term treatment of neck pain. It is designed to relieve muscle spasms and nerve root compression. Lumbar traction is the process of applying a stretching force to the lumbar vertebrae through body weight, weights, and/or pulleys to distract individual joints of vertebra.

Wax Therapy

Wax therapy, which uses a bath of molten paraffin wax, is one of the most effective ways of applying heat to improve mobility by warming the connective tissues. Wax therapy is mainly used on your hands and is often used by therapists in a hospital setting along with an exercise programme.

Continuous Passive Motion

Continuous passive motion (CPM) devices are used during the first phase of rehabilitation following a soft tissue surgical procedure or trauma. CPM is carried out by a CPM device, which constantly moves the joint through a controlled range of motion; the exact range is dependent upon the joint.

Electrical Stimulation

Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or electromyostimulation, is the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses.

Suspension Therapy

Suspension is the means whereby parts of the body are suspended with hooks that have a large and small curve. In suspension Pendular motion is used to maintain muscle property, increase ROM & strengthening the muscles.

Postural Drainage

Postural Drainage and Percussion (PD & P), also known as chest physical therapy (CPT), is a way to help people with cystic fibrosis (CF) breathe with less difficulty and stay healthy. PD & P uses gravity and percussion to loosen the thick, sticky mucus in the lungs so it can be removed by coughing.

Chest Physiotherapy

Chest Physiotherapy Treatment (CPT) The lungs make mucus to help defend against germs. Different areas of the chest wall are percussed to help loosen and move the mucus toward the center of the chest. Percussion is performed for two minutes in each different position.
