The department has 20 bedded fully functional Ward with dedicated nursing care and equipped with

  • Digital infusion pumps
  • Syringe Infusion Pumps for fluid monitoring
  • Crash Cart with Defibrillator
  • Emergency Resuscitation kit for children.

Four bedded Postoperative Ward has central suction and oxygen supply with bedside monitors and round the clock availability of trained staff and resident. The ward also has a play area for children with safe toys for their recreation in hospital and psychological upliftment. The treatment/dressing room is attached to the Ward, for postoperative dressings and minor procedures. The operation theaters are well equipped with the latest Open Surgery and laparoscopy and Anesthetic equipment. The department has recently procured the latest state-of-the-art laparoscopy Instruments exclusively for pediatric patients. The department also offers emergency care for children admitted through casualty. Most common of these cases that are managed are – acute appendectomy obstructed hernia and neonatal cases like anorectal anomalies and congenital diaphragmatic hernia, etc. The department is approved for the Government sponsored Insurance scheme for the poor, viz., ‘Star health Kalaingar Kapeetu Thittam’The department is a part of the specialty screening camps in ‘Varummun Kappom Thittam’ and the state education board’s ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Program’ to treat the disabled children.
