I am a Postgraduate teacher and researcher with special interest in Histopathology and cytopathology. I was instrumental in establishing the Department of Pathology in 3 Medical institutions and a recognised Postgraduate department in SMVMCH, Puducherry.

I enjoy working in Histopathology and in an academically oriented medical institution maintaining high standards of teaching and research. In my future career I would like to teach and mould pathology post graduates. My future plans include focused research in the field of Histopathology and Medical education leading to doctorate degree.

            It is proud to be alumni of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, completed my MBBS and MD pathology from this prestigious institution. I bagged Gold medal in MD pathology university examination during the academic year 2012. After completing my MD I joined as a Assistant professor in the department of pathology, MGMCRI in May 2012 under the leadership of Dr.Narasimhan, Professor of pathology and Dr.Dhananjay Kotasthane, Professor and HOD of Pathology. I became Associate Professor in May 2016 in the same institution. I went for certified training course in Onco-Pathology at Tata Memorial Hospital,Mumbai in 2016. Now I am Professor of Pathology handling Histopathology, Hematology, Cytology sections in rotation.

            I am member of various professional bodies like IAPM, IAC, ISRTP, IMSA and ISHBT. Done about 25 publication in various international and national indexed journals. Attended various conferences and presented posters and papers. Also invited as a guest speaker in various institution and IMA.

KEY SKILLS:

I am Ms.Siva priya S completed my undergraduate B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology, Sri Venkateshwaraa College of paramedical sciences, Pondicherry university. During the academic year 2017, awarded “BEST OUTGOING STUDENT” of B.Sc. MLT and I did my Postgraduate M.Sc MLT Pathology in JIPMER. I undergone JIPMER QUALITY COUNCIL Training program on “LABORATORY QUALITY & SAFETY TRAINING” (HRM&TC/ Lab QS/ Module 03) this Module trains the participants in the various facets of Laboratory Safety at JIPMER, Pondicherry on 30th September 2016. I was awarded 1st prize for of PG Project presentation on “Inhibitor screening and quantification of inhibitor titre by Bethesda assay in patients with coagulation disorder” in SILEX 2k17 (18th annual conference of SAMT) held at Govt. Medical College, Calicut, Kerala on December 2017. 

                 I joined Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, MGMCRI Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University on (20.08.2018) as Tutor in MLT Pathology. I have worked two years in this department where I gained more knowledge in my subjects and encouraged our students to develop their skills. I have one international research publication.

I am Dr. Shameera Begum, MBBS. MD (Path), currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology. I joined the institute as Tutor in September 2019 and after completing one year, I have been promoted to the current designation. I have two years of experience as a teacher for undergraduate students. During this tenure, I have also completed one-year Fellowship course in Dermatopathology in MGMCRI. 

I also take up additional responsibilities of coordinating and organising Alumni meetings, taking active part in NAAC accreditation and NABL programs, coordinator of  Students Computing and Electronics Club.

My field of interest is Dermatopathology and have keen interest in reporting skin pathology and direct immunofluorescence.

I have three publications in various indexed journals. I am also currently guiding an undergraduate student for SBV - STS project.
