Postgraduate Training
Postgraduate Training involves case presentations, seminars, and journal presentations on a regular basis. Besides, PG students are also encouraged to do research on different topics and make presentations at conferences.
The department has collaboration with Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Pondicherry whereby undergraduates are made to observe autopsy cases and postgraduates are permitted to do autopsy under the watchful eyes of faculties of both institutes.
Undergraduate Training
The subject is embedded in the MBBS curriculum and taught from the 3rd semester to the 5th semester. The following topics are broadly covered
- Medical law and ethics
- Thanatology/changes after death
- Clinical Forensic Medicine
- Forensic Toxicology
The mode of teaching is via lectures, small group discussions, practicals, demonstrations, and tutorials. Assessment is by semester exams, monthly tests, and viva voce.
